Just after college I spent two years in Quito, Ecuador teaching various subjects in a private school. I stayed in education for many years after that and taught for the Boards of Education in both New York City and Los Angeles before creating a full-time position for myself within the uniquely rewarding world of Yoga and Ayurveda.
I first learned about Ayurveda in a yoga class and I was intrigued. When I chose to study as a yoga teacher I sought out a program that combined the two sciences. Shortly after graduating from a 200 hour Yoga and Ayurveda program at Dancing Shiva Yoga and Ayurveda with Mas Vidal, I studied with Dr. Lele, BAMS to become a PanchaKarma technician. I was hooked! I was teaching yoga according to Ayurvedic tenants and offering Ayurvedic treatments in the clinic at Dancing Shiva. I also deepened my knowledge base in yoga by studying Yoga Therapy with Dr. Larry Payne at Loyola Marymount University, and I enrolled in Dr. Jay Apte’s school, the Ayurveda Institute of America (AIA), now Kerala Ayurveda, to study further. This led to spending time with Dr. Vasant Lad in India studying in The Ayurvedic Institute’s Gurukula program and graduation from AIA with my Diploma in Ayurvedic Sciences. I am passionate about Ayurveda and its health benefits for everyone and am happy to be able to offer Ayurvedic yoga, body treatments, purification treatments, and wellness consultations.
Pregnancy and birth are a natural part of the life cycle. After treating many women who were either preparing to have a baby or in need of postpartum care, I sought out more professional development. I have since completed my DONA Birth Doula training and have attended births as a massage therapist and as a birth doula. And I am also a certified HypnoBirthing Doula and HypnoBirthing Practitioner. I love encouraging couples to trust the birthing process and empowering them with concrete relaxation techniques to stay energized and also calm and safe.
